Sam Smithwick, of Smithwick Machine, is a singer/songwriter,  music creator from the Hill Country of Mississippi, residing in Maine for the past 15 years. Smithwick has been writing and recording solo material as well as being a contributing member of Atlanta based The Ladies Of with longtime friends James Hall, Jack Massey, and Johnny Blade. Smithwick's music combines elements of blues, country, and jazz. Proud to wear his influences on his sleeve, Smithwick's writing draws heavily from from the dark, minor sounds of Skip James to the passion and deep love of Leonard Cohen. Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Son House, Robert Johnson, Marc Bolan, Art Blakey, Syd Barrett, all tattooed upon that lyrical sleeve.
